I tried to learn it by relating it to the BBb, but I tangled myself up. I ended up just treating it like a completely new instrument. If you had to learn trumpet, or flute, what would you do? You'd start at Page 1 of a beginning method book. If you are having any trouble at all, it might save time in the long run to work through a beginning method on the F, with the appropriate fingerings written in where fingerings need to be written. Of course, you'll go through the book quickly, but make sure you master each lesson before moving on, just as with beginners.

You have to resonate the low C rather than blow it. You are feeding the air to the horn rather than pushing it at the horn. Don't worry, it won't make sense until you do it, and then you won't need the explanation--you'll just need the practice. Make a rule to never play that low C louder than what will produce a great sound--ever.
