There is nothing wrong with it. I personally think the Vaughan Williams sounds best with a bright instrument like the Miraphone 180F. I think so to the point that I almost worked the piece up on euph because I thought it sounded better on euph (some of the larger ones at least) than on the Meinl-Weston 25 BBb tuba I was playing on at the time. But then again, my taste in sounds in solos, both for tuba and euph, leans toward the brighter, yet clearer and more focused sound. I haven't played a BBb tuba yet that would be capable of producing a light enough sound for the VW for my taste. That being said, if you can produce that sound on the BBb, or you prefer the sound of your BBb than a smaller horn in this instance, or your BBb tuba is the only equipment you have right now, play the Vaughan Williams on a BBb. It's the results that matter, and if you're happy with the results then go for it.
