I see a lot of people play instruments on their travels through the store and the one thing I see from time-to-time is players taking the breath too close to the mouthpiece, which is then amplified through the instrument and is quite audible to the listener. I personally feel it tends to distract from the great playing that is going on. This is how I would associate it, in my own sick mind: It's like kissing a beautiful woman-then burping in her face. You hear a beautiful phrase and then a sound similar to clearing your nose. At that point it is hard to keep the audience "engaged" in the music you are making.
