If history is any guide, people will get what they want when they want it.

Prohibition didn't stop the sale of alcoholic beverages to those who wanted them, and copyright laws won't stop the copying of books, scores, CD's, whatever by those who want them.

Among the "those" are a lot of folks who think it's OK to swipe things. This underclass will unfortunately never disappear.

And there are also a lot of folks who would be willing to pay IF THEY COULD!

But they can't so they copy. Presto! The law of unintended consequences strikes again and creates instant criminals.

But don't ever think that someone who really has his mind set on playing the von Flyspeck Duo Concertante for tuba and food processor will give up just because it's P. O. P. and he or she has to make a copy of the one they found in the library.

You'd be gambling against history.
