A friend is selling a tuba and would like to have $1350 for a 3/4 size Besson Bb tuba and its hard case which is in fair condition. I played it and it sounds good. It has very few dents but the finish is not very good and detracts from its appearance. It has 3 piston valves and has a serial number of 320559. Along with "Besson", a word that looks like "Stratford" is inscribed in the bell. Can any of my fellow tuba enthusiasts out there tell me your thoughts on what this instrument might be worth and tell me how to go about assessing its value or how to get more information about the horn (such as model, date of manufacture, etc)?
