I played it on a large BBb King tuba in March of 1957 in the Exhibition Hall at the Carnegie Mellon University Music Department with Phil Catelinet accompaning me on the piano. He liked it on the BBb because it had fewer high harmonics in the low and middle range than did his F tuba. We got a ten minute standing ovation and played Le Carillon et Bourdon by Bozza as an encore (this was written for a tiny small French tuba in C).

The Trustees and the music department head were so impressed that they hired Phil as an assistant professor the next week.
