I am an adult (still remember when the Beatles came to town) tuba player getting my lips back in shape after a 25 year hiatus. I've been looking around for a used tuba to play in local community groups.
I have just had look at a used BBb tuba. It was a Sonora, 4 valve rotary in pretty good shape. A small dent in the lead pipe, and showing a few spots of rust. It comes with a hard wooden case. The asking price is $1500 US. I was told that the horn is roughly 25 years old and was manufactured in East Germany. It is being sold by a professional trombonist who no longer plays tuba.
Has anyone had experience with this type of horn? Is the price reasonable. is there anything I should consider in buying a used horn?
