In your message, you indicated that you want to play tuba the rest of your life. Now may be the only chance you get to play in marching band so do it. You can sit by yourself in a practice room until the day you die. I doubt there's anything you can do to your chops in marching band that you can't recover from (I played trombone in high school marching band!)
Besides, OU finally has a decent team again and you'll get to see a bunch of great games for free and go to some bowls.

p.s. If I recall correctly, the OU Music department required all music majors to be in the band at least two years anyway. Has that changed?
