I have to go along with the person who made a cautious, anonymous posting. Is this your main horn? Are you serious with it - trying to be a pro, or do recitals? I don't think most conductors of orchestras are going to be real receptive. Anonymous's advice was to experiment on a "pawn shop" horn first. That makes sense to me - or even an old "school" horn. How are going to feel if you had to find out from some personnel manager, that you weren't invited back to play in a section because some conductor didn't appreciate your coloring job? Which would be more important to you then? I personally prefere the sound and feel of horns without laquer (I know it's an old, tired argument) - they seem less "dead" to me. I realize these comments were not invited, but just as "anonymous" said, I would also hate to see you do something you might regret down the road.
