However, it's most important that you file down the end of the shank so that it comes to a razor sharp point, then have the shank turned down so that it meets the the point where the pipe fits into the ferrel. Be warned, if you fail to do this, your entire horn will self destruct, and you'll never get asked back to play in your favorite community orchestra ever again. I also know a foundry that will cast a 2 pound weight onto the cup. This helps to keep your tone from spreading across the entire back row - only people sitting directly above will hear you. At this point, your mouthpiece becomes a PT109 model. Did I get a laugh? I'm sure many will be upset.
