If you are looking for a used horn, consider the pawn shops and brasswind repair shops. I have just lucked into a use BBb flat horn that a very reputable shop had on consignment. I was just fortunate enough to call a few weeks after the horn came the shop.
A fellow musician in a small concert band I am in, has picked up a great 3/4 horn at a pawn shop (he was actually looking for a camera at the time). It needed a little cosmetic work, but turned out to be a terrific buy.
Like you, I am geeting back to playing tuba after many, many years after high school.
