Well, I have a little bit of a projection problem, still developing my puny lungs, but even so, still have the flat G. My horn was playing funny a while back so I took it in to the shop and they found a moldy glove inside! (Not mine, incidentally.) I bought this horn brand new, less than a year ago, but was in a car accident with it. (IT was int the front seat and had a slide smashed. This slide was "repaired however. It was the 3rd valve slide.) Using 4th valve the G is closer, just right on 1&3. In trying to lip, I am dealing with 50 cents flat, so even that is next to impossible....
I am going to try a new mouthpiece though!
