Now is the time to mark your calendar for the 18th Annual United States Army Band Tuba-Euphonium Conference, January 24-27, 2001

Here is a tentative schedule along with some hotel information:

THE 18TH ANNUAL ARMY BAND TUBA-EUPHONIUM CONFERENCE
JANUARY 24-27, 2001 WASHINGTON, D.C.

All events are free and open to the public. No tickets, reservations, or registration fees are required. Conference site is Ft. Myer, Virginia, adjacent to Arlington National Cemetery and five minutes from downtown Washington. Ft. Myer is served by Washington Regan National, Dulles International and B.W.I. Airports.

4:00 p.m. Brucker Hall: Armed Forces Tuba-Euphonium Ensemble (AFTEE) rehearsal- AFTEE is open to any military musicians-U.S., Foreign, Active Duty, Guard, or Reserve. Rehearsals are in civilian attire; concert is in Dress Performance Uniform.

7:00 p.m. Brucker Hall: Clinic- "Basic Brass Ensemble Techniques", The US Army Brass Quintet.

7:30 p.m. Brucker Hall: Opening Concert- Show-Me Four Tuba Quartet, The US Army Brass Quintet, and The US Army Band Brass Dectet with soloists Craig Fuller and Neal Corwell.

Thurs., Jan 25

11:00 a.m. Community Ctr.: Masterclasses- Jukka Myllys, euphonium, Oulu Symphony, Finland.

12:00 n. NCO Club: Buffet luncheon- open to all conference participants ($5.95/person).

1:30 p.m. Community Ctr.: Open Reading Session- conducted by Gail Robertson, bring your horn!

2:30 p.m. Community Ctr.: Military Recital- featuring Shin-ichi Hojo, Sean Chisolm, Al Torres, Frank Crawford, Jason Morgan, Mark Thiele, and the Armed Forces Tuba Trio.

4:00 p.m. Brucker Hall: AFTEE rehearsal.

7:30 p.m. Brucker Hall: Recital and Jazz Concert- featuring Demondrae Thurman, Steven Sykes, and Caryl Conger in recital; and the U.S. Army Blues, CW3 Michael Walker conducting, with jazz euphoniumist Jun Yamaoka.

Fri., Jan 26

10:00 a.m. NCO Club: Clinic- "Finnish Euphonium Tradition", Jukka Myllys, Oulu Symphony.

11:00 a.m. NCO Club: Jazz Clinic- with Jun Yamaoka, bring your horn!

12:00 n. NCO Club: Buffet luncheon- at Spates Hall /NCO Club, open to all conference participants ($5.95/person).

1:30 p.m. Town Hall: College Ensemble Concert- U. of Wisconsin- Eau Claire, Western Carolina U., and George Mason U. Tuba-Euphonium Ensembles.

4:00 p.m. Brucker Hall: AFTEE rehearsal

9:00 a.m. Community Center: Exhibits open

9:30 a.m. Brucker Hall: Masterclass- Pat Sheridan, tuba.

11:00 a.m. Brucker Hall: Concert- Shirim Klesmer Orchestra.

1:00 p.m. Brucker Hall: Recital- Roland Szentpali, tuba, Budapest, Hungary

2:00 p.m. Brucker Hall: Jazz Concert- The MJT Project with R. Winston Morris.

3:30 p.m. Brucker Hall: Open Reading Session- with John Stevens, bring your horn!

*P.O.F.A., Pershing's Own Family Association, will have a snack bar available in Brucker Hall on Sat. Jan 27, 8 a.m - 2 p.m..
