Glad to hear someone else mention this. I just went to an NHK Symphony(Japan) concert last weekend where my buddy was subbing. They were doing Bruckner 4. To my surprise(he had not told me before hand) he played the 1st and 2nd movements on an F and the 3rd and 4th on CC. I personally would have never done so unless requested to by the conductor or persuaded by the trombone section. But, I can see the reason behind it. I have to admit it was very effective in the first movement. I say use whatever sounds good to your ear,and of course the rest of the orchestra.
