I normally use a rag, but sometimes I forget it and just cup my plain hand, catch the spit, and then discretely put my hand in my pocket. As long as I have my tux no one notices.
You have to be careful, though, because one time I almost dropped my tuba during the quiet part of a piece, when I was cupping my hand and turning the page of music at the same time. I'll never do that again.
