They are still built by most of the major makers, who are spread across the Czech Republic and Germany. From a distance they look like most rotary F tubas, except that the tubing isn't arranged just the same way. Three valves are for the right hand, and three for the left, with all six front action and a left-facing bell like most rotaries.

They are unlike the small French C tuba, which is really a C euphonium with three top-action valves and three side-action valves.
