Again, my own two cents...

I grew up in an area where there weren't any pro tuba players. All I had (and I was thankful, trust me) were some band directors who really gave me room to grow. I needed more however, and just about that time a tuba player came into the area who had studied with Harvey. He realized I wanted to learn all I could about tuba playing. He started letting me record some of his tuba records, and I have to say, it really opened my eyes to the tuba possibilities... I won't say those "bootlegged" recordings changed my life, but they definitely changed my direction, and my focus.

In my opinion, this is an instance where I think it was okay.
