I am planning to start playing BBb tuba again at the community band/brass choir level. I have never played a rotary valve tuba. What are the pros and cons concerning piston vs. rotary valves. I noticed the majority of the 4/4 BBb tubas are rotary valves. Are pistons easier to unfreeze than rotary? I am presently playing a three valve piston baritone horn in a brass choir. Are there any embrasure problems with continuing to play both a baritone and tuba? Thanks.
