Couldn't say about the specific intent for tuba. "...Earbox" was written in 1996 for the Oregon Symphony and the Halle Symphony. (a joint commision). Nothing I have read mentions anything special about the tuba part. But it is quite challenging--rehearsal and performances will be soon. I'm looking forward to it.
