A friend of mine (another high school senior) has this condition, and has had it most of her life. Her orthodontist gave her a mouthpiece (similar to what an athelete would wear) to wear while she sleeps. I don't think the problem has ceased completely, but it has allowed her to play trumpet a bit more comfortably (she still has days where her jaw bothers her, though.)
