Helpful or not:

My 1928 26K has its original neck. My 1927 40K BBb has a replacement neck told to be from around 1970.

The older neck has a male flange at the insertion point into the neck, which is stronger in wall gauge.

The older neck is very sligthly shorter than the newer. For practical purposes, they are interchangeable.

All of my 4 bits are of post-1990 descendence. And they are identical.

Comparisons show that the rings/end-ferrules of both the necks and of the bits look to be have made with the same tools.

There might have been changes in recent Conn-UMI sousa productions, but I doubt that.

So a workable replacement should be obtainable.

Klaus
