I've had my St. Pete for about 6 months now. I got it from Frieder and I guess it was probably one of his last ten tubas. It has the 'German Machine' and all. I've never had an ounce of trouble from it. However I have never had much opportunity to compare one to another. All I could compare to was my old war torn Elkhart 3/4 that I once Played in our community band. After reading all the reports and opinions here on BBS,I do handle my St. Pete alot more carefully than I once did. Oh, I did once talk to Vince (AT) T.E. He said that the Russian Petes are now made with the valves done to his specifications.I've never dealt with V.(AT)T.E. but like my tuba, I've read reports and opinions here on BBS. P.S. I bought My St Pete before I discovered BBS. Otherwise I would have done more research before buying my horn. I guess I just got lucky.
