To me, Barenboim is the go-to conductor for all Bruckner symphonies. I enjoy the CSO Solti recording as well, but Barenboim exudes and enormous amount of passion which seems (arguably) unrivaled. Besides the 77 CSO recording, look for a '91 recording with the Berlin Philharmonic. Also, Barenboim recorded many Bruckner symphonies with the CSO during the last two years, you may wish to look for it on Amazon.com. If you're interested in other Bruckner symphonies, I saw a televised version of Bruckner 8 while I was in Austria with the NDR Symphony of Germany and it was truly phenomenal. It might be worth looking into.
