Hey, Ed!
That was a really fun day with Matt...wish I could have days like that
more often...hope you made all of your train connections ok...Matt worked
his magic on the Rudy...found some inconsistencies in the inside construction
around the main tuning slide area...also aligned the valves...also got a adapter
for the receiver to increase the gap there...plays like a totally different
instrument! I later played on one of Matt's project horns, an old Buescher that
had been modified to CC...man, what a sweet sound...very lyrical with a ton of
color...has to be the vintage metallurgy with the thick wall of the bell that
you don't see on modern instruments...like your Willson, I would have loved to
brought that Buescher home with me...I was really wasted after catching the 2
Fedex jumpseats home to New Orleans...had to be at work later on Friday...I was
a zombie for that shift..oh, well...it was absolutely, positively worth the time
and effort...hope your Miraphone works out for you...and hope you get your Willson
one day...keep in touch...Sincerely,
Richard Brown
