And for a very special Bruckner experience, let's not forget the video from VAI with Paul Hindemith conducting the Chicago Symphony from an April 1963 telecast. This is a video no brass player should be without. Unfortunately it's only the 1st mvt. of Bruckner 7th, but WHAT a performance! Bold bass-led balance and intonation, and NO forcing. The program includes Hindemith's own Concertmusik for Strings and Brass, and Brahms' Academic Festival Overture. Resonant mono sound and great shots of the orch in general, and the brass in particular.
