Hi Larry, I agree that a tuba should blend with the other four. I try to do the same with my quintet which is why I use a small Eb. I don't feel that his sound was over bearing or out of balance with his CB horn. I just feel the tone of the CB horn has more character than the Yamaha horn had; not that it is louder. I really noticed it most on the Tuba Lullaby track I mentioned above, especially since that was a tuba solo. I would imagine they had the tuab EQed a little heavier on that track as well, which could have something to do with it also.
