The 186 is the American Model designation for Mirafone's 4/4, .770 bore sized tubas. They are available in BBb or CC, 4, 5 or 6 valves, brass or gold brass. The older ones had a 16 1/2" bell and nowadays, they are 17 3/4" The come in two 'trims.' The S model and the "Pro" line. the differtences are cosmetic. The 188 is built with the same leadpipe and valveset, but is larger after the tuning slide. While the bell is also a 17 3/4", the THROAT of the bell is much larger.
