I am looking for a reference on how to dismantle and clean the rotary valves on a Miraphone 186.
After several months in storage the 2nd and 4th valves on my tuba are extremely sluggish and nothing I have tried has worked to make them work reasonably (all the valves worked before the instrument want into storage). Never had a problem before ... have cleaned the instrument and used proper rotor oil on the spindle (with light valve oil drops in the tuning slides). Am on a geophysical survey in South Africa and it is a long way to the nearest repair shop -- travel that far is not possible until February ... trying to work with only the 1st and 3rd valve is not helping my sanity!
