I have King literature from the early '30s in which Bell endorses King instruments, especially the Eb sousaphone. Bell played Kings almost exclusively, and had many instruments made to his own whim: for example the Bb/BBb double baritone/tuba, which cost some $1500 to make at the time (and was rumored to be a total dog), and his famous 4 rotary valved CC horns with a King medium bore (.687"), as well as the Eb sousaphones. In another catalog, he has a discussion of the use of the 4th valve.
