My brass quintet has been around for about 15 years. For the most part, one person gets the jobs, sends out information, etc. This person, (one of our trumpet players) also tends to "lead" in rehearsal, but rehearsals are democratic-cooperative. Our other trumpeter does most of the talking at concerts, as this fits his personality. He has a good sense of humor and is comfortable with this role. I believe the reason we have lasted is that our personalities all fit as well as our playing styles. We have never had the slightest argument or bad feeling over the years. When we play together, (wish we could do it more) it's a pleasure.
