You could really open a can of worms with this one. I agree with Mark F. I haven't played a Gronitz or a new Alex, but I want to, as I may buy a new 4/4 soon. Mark's suggestions are the place to start, but ultimately, whatever horn you buy must have consistent tone and response throughout, have SOME kind of fingerings/slide ajustments to play it in tune, and most importantly, make the sound your looking for.
