Yeah but in a year when his horn is all beat up and looks like a P.O.S. and yours still looks new it will ALL be worth it. My dad is a band director (35 yrs) and EVERY rich kid that has EVER had a horn bought for them in that situation had to sell it for scrap metal in about 2 years... I bought my first "real" horn 2 years ago and can tell you where EVERY scratch came from on it.. Ignore him and keep practicing, in 4 years he won't even be playing... if I had to lay money on it.
