I think it helps that tuba players tend to be "C" people. A "C" person is one who answers the following question "C":

You are approached by aliens from a very advanced civilization who present you with a black box that will cure all disease, provide a limitless supply of food and clean energy for the entire planet, and end poverty and war. What do you do with it?

A. Present it to the President of the United States.

B. Present it to the Secretary General of the United Nations.

C. Take it apart.

Can you imagine a clarinet or viola player being a "C" person? Maybe a drummer. Bass trombone players sometimes think they are "C" people and maybe look the part, but they're faking it.

Now for the imponderable, do "C" people tend to take up the tuba or does tuba playing tend to make you a "C" person?
