Midwest is held at the Chicago Hilton, about 800 South Michigan. TubaChristmas is at the Palmer House Hilton, about 200 South State. As TubaChristmas got bigger, the Chicago Hilton kicked them out.
If you were exhibiting, would you let a new horn go off the exhibit floor for half a day, do a journey of at least 6 blocks and do a concert that there are more tuba players than square footage? Sounds like tuba hell for a new instrument - you will be asking for trouble.
Borrowing a horn? Good luck. I know all the people who exhibit horns from other shows and I really doubt if they would lend me a horn for TubaChristmas. If you can get a horn from an exhibit more power to you but don't hold your breath.
