Although I personally love pipe organs, I have to differ on whether the pipe organ business is "thriving." That business is steadily getting smaller. Yes, there are still institutions willing to pay the freight for real pipe organs, but the electronic substitutes keep getting better and cheaper.

What's worse (for organ aficionados) is that musical tastes are changing, and fewer and fewer people want to hear organs, whether they use wind or electrons to generate that kind of sound. The sound of electic guitars (including bass ones) and synthesizers seems to be what many people want to hear.

It's hard to imagine now, but in the nineteen-twenties the most popular musical instrument in the USA was the theatre organ.
