Marzan-branded instruments were made by Willson, Böhm & Meinl and (I've been told) Rudi Meinl. Serial numbers won't help you much, but physical characteristics will. If you have a 0.750" bore piston horn, it's probably a B&M; the Willsons tend to have bores in the .600s and are somewhat smaller. I can't say about Rudi Meinl, as I've never seen one. If you've got a detachable bell model, the shape of the flanges for the fixing bolts are sometimes a giveaway (B&M's are squarish, Willsons are rounded.

Perhaps the best way to find out about your horn is to give Fred Marzan a call and ask him.
