I never said that Hirsbrunner a purely handmade tuba. Like most high end tubas, with the exception of some Nirschls, some of the parts are machine made. What makes the difference is that they are hand assembled and adjusted. To what degree, I'm not sure, but this has a HUGE effect on intonation. I would think the more time they spend being tweaked, the better they would play. As for the MW 2000, its not a purely handmade instrument either. The bows are hand hammered and the tuba is silver plated. Other than few details, those are the only big differences from the 2155. If you don't believe me about the quality of construction having an affect on the instrument, try a Jupiter or St. Petersburg. The York tubas that were made in the 1930's and 40's were made with top quality materials and workmanship. I think they've held up pretty well.
