It's just different. It has a broader, more mellow sound, while the King has a brighter sound, at least to my ears. I think that the 20K sousaphone sounds and plays as well as or better than most BBb tubas. Because of the directional nature of the sound and the 26" bell it's too much for indoor playing, even though it is easy to control the volume due to its responsiveness.
