Following the logic of Adophe Sax one has to tell your statement wrong.
The Tenor was an Eb instrument, which still is the term know in the British brass bands.
The Baryton and the Basse both were in Bb. Modern British brass band terms are the Baritone and the Euphonium.
The Contrebasse was in Eb. The modern British brass band term is the Eb tuba.
