I have played an old York top action E flat as my bass tuba since the late 1970's (although I mostly use the CC tuba). The low range on my E flat is good only with a small, somewhat shallow mouthpiece, I use a Bragunier model mouthpiece on mine (Bach 25 or Bach 22 size, nothing with AW). With this setup the low range is very good. The middle and high ranges are beautiful. I like the York sound with an E flat and have had no problems with blending with a musical group or projection. And yes, you got a great deal on this one!

enjoy your York,
