Your thoughts about the choice of MP to come to terms with the German "notes-just-below-the-staff-syndrome" are new to me. Could you elaborate a little on that? Why should a bigger MP make those notes more difficult to center, and what would a "characteristic" MP be in this case? I'm very interested since this is the biggest problem I experience in my own playing on a German F tuba. I changed from the MW22 that came with the tuba to Conn Helleberg, which is rather a lot bigger, hoping that this might help. I don't know if it did.
