Okay, I understand and agree your point. Using a bass tuba for much music does not involve setting aside one's standards.
But in rightly refuting the notion that using an Eb is always a compromise, you have stated that using it exclusively is not a compromise, which is what I refuted. Webster defines compromise as "something intermediate between or blending qualities of two different things" and a "settlement of differences...by consent reached by mutual concessions". Choosing one instrument to play music intended for different instruments sometimes involves a concession and always requires a blend of the qualities of both bodies of literature.
