Remember that my argument is not around what works, but what is optimal. If it's fractionally less optimal than a different instrument, then it is a compromise (it is an intermediate position that requires a concession). That doesn't make it bad or unworkable, just less than optimal. One could just as easily say that a Miraphone 186 is a good compromise between price, sound, versatility, intonation, and projection. Or that a four-door sport sedan is a good compromise between seating convenience and sportiness.
