I forgot to say also that the quality of the mpc depends on its match with your instrument, your lips and teeth, and your level of ability. Usually, the DW3 is thought to be a good beginner mpc (if the person is not too small), intermediate, but professionals use it too. It matches well with Besson and B & H EEb tubas. The inner diameter is not too wide so it is not fatiguing and it helps people who do not have large lips and wide mouths. The rim, it is true, is somewhat wide; since I have very thin lips, and I had mine narrowed. Some people who do not like the Wicks do not use them on Bessons and B & Hs. Dennis Wick wrote in his book on the trombone that a mpc should feel right and comfortable and not cause the lips and mouth any contortion.
