I played a vintage Conn Helleburg in the mid 1980s, that at the time thought was the best MP I had ever played. They are very different than the current stock Conn Helleburg MPs. That is why so many companies (Schilke, Dillon, Cooley, Laskey, etc.) have included Helleburg MPs for their tuba MP lines. I remember when Schilke was working on their first Helleburg MP. They spent several years with both Dave Fedderly and Rex Martin working with them to get a prototype that played as close as possible to Arnold Jacobs vintage Conn Helleburg.
