I love that Beecham recording of Messiah exactly for what it is--Sir Eugene Goossens' reorchestration. Chuck's description is right on the money.
You can either accept it at face value, or have a great laugh when the trombones, triangle, cymbal, (and tuba?) come crashing on the Hallelujah Chorus.
