Considering the cost of a mouthpie...uhh I MEAN "LAWYER" and the fact that a judge might view the teacher's suit as:
"This kid said that I'm fat, bald, and stupid." [' judge thinks: "Yeah, right."]
that might be why the band director didn't bother.
