Greeting and Happy Thanksgiving to those in the U.S.,
When I was leaving my "day job" at an automotive supplier today I started wondering, when do I
thinking of my self as a brass player/musician and when do I think of myself in the capacity of my day job (design engineering of automotive components).
I have gone to school for music and done the same for engineering. The two worlds are kept pretty separate in my head with clear separations and boundries.
Now, if you play full time professionally, you may never switch these particular gears, but if you are out of school and you do something else as your main source of income, when do you think of youself as a musician? Are you one thing first and the other second?
