Mark,

I attended Jay Bertolet's presentation on the cimbasso at ITEC 2002 this year and was really amazed at the difference the cimbasso makes in the sound of the low brass section. He played several excepts (with a trombone section) using his cimbasso vs a Willson 3400 vs a Cerveny Eb. The sound was so much more cohesive and homogenious with the cimbasso. It made a huge difference. It just sounded right in the context of the compositions presented. I was familiar with most of the music and wouldn't hesitate to pursue an Eb cimbasso (being an Eb player) if I could use one, even if only occationally (but that's just me, I'm funny like that, and who knows, I just might!).
