I have to concur with Lee. The 3/4 Rudy is the most versatile tuba made. Don't let the moniker 3/4 fool you, it is close in size to the Mirafone 186. Pat Landolfi plays one as his primary instrument in the NJSO and Ron Bishop has been playing one in Cleveland off-and-on for the past couple of years. They have a great range of sound and amazingly good pitch. The one I owned never needed a slide pulled throughout the entire range of the instrument. If you have the money, get one, you won't be sorry. FWIW, I never cared for the 2nd valve kicker on mine and had it taken off, I thought it got in the way and I really never needed it. Good luck.
